Foundational supports are not designed, not funded and not built
Senate documents show as many as 241,000 disabled people could lose NDIS access. The "foundational supports", including health supports, meant to replace it are not designed, not funded and not built anywhere in Australia. No state or territory has agreed to deliver like-for-like services.

And the timing makes it worse. Plan budgets start shrinking from 1 October 2026. The functional-capacity assessment that decides who keeps access doesn't begin until January 2028. The support is cut long before any replacement is even tested.
Take away the NDIS support and people don't disappear. They turn up sicker, injured and in crisis: more social admissions, more falls, longer stays. Who pays? Nurses, health staff, disabled people, carers, everyone except the people who promised a real NDIS.
The saving on paper becomes a cost on the ward. That is not a saving. It is a cost, moved from one budget line to another and paid for in harm.
